Dark Green Leafy Vegetables are foods that help to fight cancer.
Dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach, mustard greens, leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, kale, chicory, and chard have an abundance of fiber, folate, and carotenoids. These nutrients may help protect against cancer of the mouth, larynx, pancreas, lung, skin, and stomach. These foods can also help you by keeping a healthy weight. They contain almost no fat and their caloric content is very low. Researchers believe that carotenoids seem to prevent cancer by acting as antioxidants , that is, scouring potentially dangerous ‘free radicals’ from the body before they can do harm. Some laboratory research has found that the carotenoids in dark green leafy vegetables can inhibit the growth of certain types of breast cancer cells, skin cancer cells, lung cancer and stomach cancer.
