Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it should be the biggest meal of the day. After fasting all night, break the fast with a big healthy breakfast. Eat breakfast like a king/queen, Lunch like a prince/princess, supper like a pauper and close the kitchen at 6pm. A number of studies show that people who successfully maintain a significant weight loss eat breakfast just about every day. It’s time we take a serious look at the morning meal. Most of us eat the same breakfast every day like me. We tend to eat pastries, sugar-coated cereal or eggs, but in a society where obesity is rampant, it makes sense to re-examine our eating habits and stay away from pastries and the sugary cereal. What you choose to eat for breakfast makes a big difference for your health. A variety of fruits can bring you near the minimum number of five daily fruits and vegetable servings recommended for lower cancer risk. Try a variety of vegetables in an omelet sometimes, this is healthy. If you choose healthful, slow-burning foods, like whole grains and fruits, you should be able to control your appetite until about midday lunchtime. Also eating throughout the day is less likely. In fact according to the American Institute for Cancer Research, eating more fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly, and maintaining a healthy weight could cut cancer rates by 30 to 40 percent. Choose whole grain breads and cereals (with low sugar content), fresh or canned fruits (in unsweetened juice) and even foods that one normally wouldn’t eat for breakfast like left over salmon on a whole wheat bagel. Stock your pantry with healthful ingredients, like oatmeal, whole wheat bread, Cheerios, wheat germ, nuts and canned or dried fruit. This will help to prevent you from grabbing unhealthy food on the run like doughnuts.
