Father, Lead Me Day by Day Father, lead me day by day, Ever in Thine own sweet way; Teach me to be pure and true; Show me what I ought to do. When in danger, make me brave; Make me know that Thou canst save; Keep me safe by Thy dear side; Let me in Thy love abide When tempted to do wrong, Make me steadfast, wise, and strong; And when all alone I stand, Shield me with Thy mighty hand. May I do the good I know, Be Thy loving child below, Then at last go home to Thee, Evermore Thy child to be. “I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” (KJV) ( Isaiah 43:25 ) Contrary to popular belief, we can never be good enough to rescue ourselves from sin. Only God can wipe away our sins because of His love for us. In addition, the ability to forgive and forget is a power that comes from God alone. The source of this power is rooted in love. Without love, we are truly unable to forgive and forget...
President Obama’s 1st Inaugural Address Jan. 20, 2009 You can read the official transcript below. Inaugural Address By President Barack Hussein Obama My fellow citizens: I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you’ve bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation — (applause) — as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition. Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often, the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we, the people, have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears and true to our founding documents. So it has been; so it must be with this generation of Americans. That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost, jobs shed, businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly, our schools fail too many — and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet. These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable, but no less profound, is a sapping of confidence across our land; a nagging fear that America’s decline is inevitable, that the next generation must lower its sights. Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this America: They will be met. (Applause.) On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas that for far too long have strangled our politics. We remain a young nation. But in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal,...

All things work for our good Though sometimes we don’t See how they could Struggles that break our hearts in two Sometimes blind us to the truth Our Father knows what’s best for us His ways are not our own So when your pathway grows dim And you just don’t see Him, Remember you’re never alone (Chorus:) God is too wise to be mistaken God is too good to be unkind So when you don’t understand When don’t see His plan When you can’t trace His hand Trust His Heart He sees the master plan He holds the future in His hand, So don’t live as those who have no hope, ALL our hope is found in Him. We see the present clearly He sees the first and last And like a tapestry He’s weaving you and me, To someday be just like Him (Chorus) He alone is faithful and true He alone knows what is best for you (Chorus) When you can’t trace His hand When you don’t see His plan When you don’t understand Trust His Heart.
