1 John 2:15-17
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
While this verse instructs us to not love the world, John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. Know this, God’s redemptive plan to save us does not include saving the lust or pride of this earth that came with the fall of man. Ever since that day when Adam and Eve fell, man has been enslaved to those kind of sins. God loves us and orchestrated salvation through His Son in order to deliver us from that sinful nature that was birthed in us. Because of Jesus, we are able to believe by grace through faith in Him and be led by the Holy Spirit.
