We Praise Thee Oh God

We Praise Thee Oh God

We praise Thee, O God, for the Son of Thy love,– For Jesus who died and is now gone above. We praise Thee, O God, for Thy Spirit of light, Who has shown us our Saviour, and scattered our night. All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain, Who has borne all our sins, and has cleansed every stain. All glory and praise to the God of all grace, Who has bought us, and sought us, and guided our ways. Revive us again; fill each heart with Thy love; May each soul be rekindled with fire from above. Chorus: Hallelujah! Thine the glory, Hallelujah! amen; Hallelujah! Thine the glory, Revive us...

Devotion ~God Allows Affliction and Trials

Devotion ~God Allows Affliction and Trials

God Allows Affliction and Trials “Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.” ~Psalm 119:67. ‘The Lord estimates as of supreme value the holiness of His people, and He permits reverses to come upon individuals, upon families, and upon churches, that His people may see their danger, and humble their hearts before Him in repentance. He will treat His back-slidden ones with tenderness. He will speak pardon to them, and clothe them with the garments of Christ’s righteousness. He will honor them with His presence. In this, the great day of atonement, it is our duty to confess our sins and acknowledge God’s mercy and love in pardoning our transgressions. Let us thank the Lord for the warnings He has given to save us from our perverse ways. Let us witness to His goodness by revealing a change in our lives. If those to whom the Lord has sent reproof, warning them that they are not walking in His way, will repent, and with humility and contrition of heart make confession, the Lord will surely receive them again into favor…. A season of great trial is before us. It becomes us now to use all our capabilities and gifts in advancing the work of God. The powers the Lord has given us are to be used to build up, not to discourage and to tear down…. In all ages of the church God’s appointed messengers have exposed themselves to reproach and persecution for the truth’s sake. But wherever God’s people may be forced to go, even though, like the beloved disciple, they are banished to desert islands, Christ will know where they are, and will strengthen and bless them, filling them with peace and joy…. He will purify His church even as He purified the temple at the beginning and close of His ministry on earth. All that He brings upon the church in test and trial comes that His people may gain deeper piety and more strength to carry the triumphs of the cross to all parts of the world. He has a work for all to do.” ~From Sons and Daughters of God by Ellen G....

Thought for Today

Do not excuse your defects of character, but in the grace of Christ overcome them. Wrestle with the evil passions which the Word of God condemns; for in yielding to them, you abase yourself. Repent of sin while Mercy’s sweet voice invites you; for it is the first step in the noblest work you can do. Strive for the mastery with all the powers God hath given you. The path of the just is a progressive one, from strength to strength, from grace to grace, and from glory to glory. The divine illumination will increase more and more, corresponding with our onward movements, qualifying us to meet the responsibilities and emergencies before us. Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven

Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven

Praise, my soul, the King of heaven; To his feet thy tribute bring; Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, Who like thee His praise should sing? Praise Him, praise Him, alleluia! Praise the everlasting King. 2 Praise him for his grace and favor To our fathers in distress; Praise him still the same forever, Slow to chide and swift to bless: Praise Him, praise Him, alleluia! Glorious in His faithfulness. 3 Tenderly He shields and spares us; Well our feeble frame he knows; In his hands He gently bears us, Rescues us from all our foes. Praise Him, praise Him, alleluia! Widely yet his mercy flows. 4 Angels, help us to adore him; Ye behold him face to face; Sun and moon, bow down before him, Dwellers all in time and space. Praise Him, praise Him, alleluia! Praise with us the God of grace. SDA Hymnal...
